Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton upped the glamour with some sparkling earrings as they arrived at Buckingham Palace for Prince Charles' 70th birthday party.

The Queen is hosting a private party for her eldest son to mark the milestone occasion.

Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived together with the Duchess wearing a pink lace dress and glittering diamond statement earrings.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were also pictured arriving at the bash with Meghan wearing the same chandelier earrings she wore in Fiji.

Other guests included newlywed Princess Eugenie, who wore an emerald green dress for the occasion and her husband Jack Brooksbank.

The Earl of Snowdon, Grand Duke and Duchess of Luxembourg, Lady Helen Taylor and Santa Montefiore, Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall were also seen arriving at the palace.

The Queen paid tribute to her son with a heart-warming toast saying: “It is a privilege for any mother to be able to propose a toast to her son on his 70th birthday.

"It means that you have lived long enough to see your child grow up. It is rather like —to use an analogy I am certain will find favour — planting a tree and being able to watch it grow.

"My mother saw me turn 70, of course. And she was heard to observe that 70 is exactly the age when the number of candles on your cake finally exceeds the amount of breath you have to blow them out.

"Over his 70 years, Philip and I have seen Charles become a champion of conservation and the arts, a great charitable leader — a dedicated and respected heir to the throne to stand comparison with any in history — and a wonderful father.

"Most of all, sustained by his wife Camilla, he is his own man, passionate and creative.

"So this toast is to wish a happy birthday to my son, in every respect a duchy original.

"To you Charles. To the Prince of Wales.”

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrive for Prince of Wales' 70th birthday party

It comes after Charles received some unusual gifts when he and Camilla arrived for a tea party at Spencer House in London to celebrate 70 inspirational people marking their 70th birthday this year.

Charles was also greeted by the royal reporters, who had a festive balloon and some other unusual gifts for him.

They gifted him some Natural Active Hot Nuts to stop his beloved red squirrels eating the food off the bird tables.

Prince William told Country Life this month that Charles feeds the squirrels at Birkhall, his Scottish estate, and even let's them come into the house.

Clearly enamoured by the gift, Charles laughed as he said: "Where do you find these terrible things?"

Speaking to the media as he clutched his presents, the Prince of Wales joked about "slowing down" now he's in his eighth decade.

His wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall wasn't convinced and said "I doubt it".

Camilla was asked if she had found a present for the man she has previously said is a difficult person to buy gifts for. The duchess replied: "I did but I'm not telling you."

Charles also said his birthday "his like indigestion. Many happy returns are not quite the same as you get older".

The heir to the throne was born at Buckingham Palace on Nov. 14, 1948, four years before his now 92-year-old mother ascended to the throne following the death of her father George VI.

As Britain's heir apparent, Charles has waited longer than any of his predecessors to become monarch and would be the oldest-ever king in a lineage that dates back 1,000 years.

New pictures show Charles in the garden of his London home Clarence House together with his second wife Camilla, sons William and Harry, their wives Kate and Meghan along with William and Kate's children, George, Charlotte and Louis.
