A Maine man will spend five years in prison for robbing a Somersworth credit union.
On Nov. 18, 2016, Marc Beaulieu, 31, of Caribou, entered the Service Credit Union and gave a teller a note that stated, "Give me all your money and no one will get hurt." The teller gave Beaulieu a sum of money that included a packet of bait bills.
Surveillance film captured Beaulieu fleeing the bank and entering a Subaru.
After police released an image of Beaulieu to the media, numerous people contacted police and identified the robber as Beaulieu. Police also obtained video from a convenience store near the credit union that captured images of Beaulieu in the Subaru, and putting on the same jacket he was seen wearing in surveillance video from the credit union.
Beaulieu was arrested in Portsmouth Nov. 21, 2016. He pleaded guilty on April 27.
"Robberies and other violent crimes present a substantial threat to public safety," said U.S. Attorney Scott Murray. "In order to protect our community, we work closely with our law enforcement partners to arrest, prosecute, and incarcerate those who commit these dangerous crimes."
