SuperSport United sign Botswana's Thatayanone Ditlhokwe

In an aim to boost their ranks, SuperSport United have announced the signing of Botswana international in the form of Thatayanone Ditlhokwe on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

The 21-year-old helped the Gaborone giants to lift the Botswana Premier League in the 2018/19 season and was rewarded with a national team call up.

Speaking to the club soon after putting pen to paper, Ditlhokwe said he wants to help the club win more trophies in the next three years.

"I am very happy to be here in this great team. The club has won a lot of trophies in the past and I want to be part of that winning environment and I am also looking forward to working with coach Kaitano Tembo. As a former player and current coach of the team, I think I can learn a lot from him and reward him for the faith he has put in signing me," said Ditlhokwe.

SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews said the club had been monitoring Dithokwe for a while and he hopes the player emulate his Botswana counterparts who represented the country with pride in the past.

"TT is a player we have tracked for some time and we feel he has a really bright future at SuperSport. We have had Botswana players here before like Dipsy Selolwane, Mogogi Gabonamong, and Mogakolodi Ngele and they all made an impact. So, we are looking forward to TT helping us to win trophies and maintain a good league campaign," Matthews said.

Ditlhokwe’s agent Errol Dicks revealed his client had offers from Europe but then chose SuperSport United.

Dicks, however, is convinced Ditlhokwe will still get his chance to go abroad in the future.

"TT had interest from Europe, but he is young and has time on his side and as a first move out of the country SuperSport is an ideal platform for him to shine in a team that is not afraid to play young players," said Dicks.
