A heartbroken daughter is set to name a guide dog puppy after her late father 'Arthur' after raising more than £20,000 in his memory.

Carol Danskin, of Broughty Ferry, Dundee, signed up for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association's Name a Puppy scheme after her dad Arthur sponsored puppies for years.

Determined Carol has walked, cycled, abseiled and drank her way to £20,000 thanks to generous donors after raking in four-times her £5,000 target.

And the big-hearted dog lover shows no signs of stopping.

Carol's Dad, Arthur, with a yellow guide dog and a collie.

The scheme - which the charity describes as "a wonderful opportunity for you to be at the heart of a guide dog puppy's story" - allows you to name a guide dog pup, then follow their journey with guide dogs.

Carol, who is a puppy raiser and support coordinator of the Dundee fundraising branch, said: "I started fundraising 18 months ago to name a puppy in memory of my dad Arthur, who had recently passed away.

"So far I have raised almost £20,000 in a variety of ways and have managed to name three puppies.

"I've abseiled from the Forth Railway Bridge, held a Guide Dogs tea party, created art from pebbles collected on Broughty Ferry beach and made hundreds of face coverings during the pandemic.

"Dad would have been chuffed to bits.

"He sponsored puppies for a number of years and I’m doing this for him."

Carol's latest challenge will see her walking and cycling 26 miles for Scotland's Virtual Kiltwalk this month.
