Huawei holds Cloud Enterprise Summit for SMEs

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | On May 2, tech giant, Huawei Technologies held a Cloud Enterprise Innovation and SME Summit 2024 in Kampala where over 100 industry startups, fintechs, venture capitals, government organizations, and key strategic partners unanimously agreed that SME development is only possible when technology is embraced. Charles Musisi, CEO fo i3C Uganda said SMEs must be supported to develop skills in technology adoption and cost management to be able to harness opportunities in the sector.

Phiona Wall, CEO League of East African Directors said SMEs need to formalize and look at technology as a factor for the sustainable development of their enterprises. Kenneth Kwesiga, the Co-founder and CEO of ioTec urged SMEs to explore opportunities that come along with partnerships, which among others include cutting the costs of running a business. The Chief Guest, Rukia Nakaddama, the 3rd Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda reassured guests that the government is committed to supporting digitalization to enable business growth.

Sunrise Xie, the Managing Director of Huawei Technologies said for over 20 years, Huawei has thrived in Uganda creating jobs, and nurturing talent, largely due to the hospitality and the excellent business environment.
