Youth Learn Their Human Rights over Tea at the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center
The young ladies of the Cole Link Foundation created personalized diaries after learning about the ‘Right to Privacy’ as advocated by the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights at the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center in downtown Clearw
Members of the Golden Linkettes learned about three essential human rights; the right to play, the right to privacy, and the right to your own things. To use what they learned about their human rights, the girls transformed a journal into their personal diary. The Linkettes and their mentors from the Cole Link Foundation then took part in a bonafide tea party complete with scones, clotted cream and jam served on a porcelain tea service.
The party was capped by a dance performance from the Linkettes.
This was the 3rd afternoon tea that the Cole Link Foundation has done at the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center. Previous tea parties have focused on an educational topic such as manners and etiquette and working as part of a team.
“The Clearwater Community Volunteers Center has been working with the Cole Link Foundation for several months.” said Michael Soltero, Manager of the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center. “The Foundation helps these young ladies become tomorrow’s successes with education in the arts & health. Today they were shown that they have a right to play and a right to privacy, which is why they personalized their own diaries.”
Soltero added “L. Ron Hubbard wrote, ‘Today’s children will become tomorrow's civilization… they need love and help to make it.’ I love being able to work with community groups that have that goal.”
The Clearwater Community Volunteers Center was opened this past March with the purpose of assisting non-profits to reach their own organizational goals through seminars and use of the Center’s Facilities.
The Center’s next major event is on October 13th and is a seminar by social media marketing wiz Natalie Nagengast, who will conduct a “Facebook 101” seminar to help charities boost their profiles on-line.
